Treatment of High & Low Blood Pressure

Hypertension ( High Blood Pressure )

Hypertension is one of the major causes of disability and death all over the world. Hypertension causes heart attacks, strokes, kidney failures and other disorder if it is neglected and remains untreated. In many cases, hypertension does not cause any symptoms until it causes complications such as heart attack and stroke and plays a role of silent killer in the body. So it is important to realize that you may have high blood pressure and only way to find it out that get your blood pressure checked at regular intervals. Blood pressure is high when arterial blood pressure is elevated above the normal ranges. The normal blood pressure reading is systolic 120 over diastolic 80.

According to Ayurveda, high blood pressure involves all the doshas, the heart, and the blood vessels. We can see signs and symptoms of derangement of vata dosha mainly that of 'Vyana vayu' in high blood pressure. The treatment is to correct the balance of vata dosha.Pitta visiation is also seen often and should be trated. People with Pitta and Vata predominante constitution and Pitta and Vata imbalance, are more prone to hypertension than any other. Unprocessed anger, frustration, irritability, anxiety and fear leads to mal-adaptation of the endocrine system, which then leads to conditions like hypertension. Treatment is based on bringing these imbalances back to normal. In the treatment of hypertension; nutrition, exercise, breathing exercises (Pranayama), yoga, meditation, behavioral modification along with various herbs and minerals are prescribed.

 SYMPTOMS
  • Pain experienced at the back of the head and neck on waking up, which soon disappears.
  • Dizziness.
  • Palpitations.
  • Heart pain.
  • Frequent urination.
  • Nervous tension.
  • Fatigue.
  • Difficulty in Breathing.
 CAUSES
  • Stress and hectic life-style.
  • Incorrect posture while sleeping and working.
  • Vitiation of vata.
  • Smoking and an excessive intake of intoxicants.
  • Hardening of the arteries.
  • Obesity.
  • Metabolic disorders.
  • Excessive intake of common table salt.
  • Overloading of fast foods.
 Low Blood Pressure )

Low blood pressure or hypotension refers to the fall in blood pressure below normal. It is a condition in which the action of the heart, in forcing the blood through the arteries, is weak. This may be a direct outcome of a weakened and devitalized system. While the normal limits are defined by the World Health Organisation as 140 mm / gh systolic and 90 mm/gh diastolic, it has now been reduced to 120 mm/gh systolic and 80 mm/gh diastolic in the US. Anything above that is high blood pressure or hypertension. Anything below is the low blood pressure.

The disc are made up of two concentric layers, the inner gel like annulus pulposes and outer annulus fibroses. As a result of advancing age and other precipitating causes the nucleus loses fluid volume and resulting the entire disc structure become more susceptible to trauma compression (dehydration of the disc). The disc is then highly vulnerable to tears and wears. as a results inner annulus pulposes protrudes thereby fibrosis layer produce bulges in the disc (herniated disc) cause compression to the spinal cord and nerve root.when space narrows compression of nerve root emerging from spinal nerve may result radiculopathy (sensory and motor disturbances), direct pressure on the spinal cord may result myelopathy, weakness, gait disturbances, loss of bowel and bladder control. may experience phenomena of numbness or burning sensation on hand and legs.

 SYMPTOMS

The patient with chronic low blood pressure may complain of lethargy, weakness, fatigue, and dizziness. The patient may faint, especially if arterial pressure is lowered further when he assumes an erect position. These symptoms are presumably due to a decrease in perfusion of blood to brain, heart, skeletal muscle and other organs.
 CAUSES

The most important cause of low blood pressure is faulty nutrition .It makes the tissues forming the walls of the blood vessels over relaxed, and flabby or stretched. This results in less supply of oxygen and nutrients to the tissues. Malnutrition can result from a diet deficient in calories, proteins, vitamin C, or almost any one of he B vitamins. Sometimes the blood pressure falls rapidly because of loss of blood. Low blood pressure may also develop gradually because of slow bleeding in the gastrointestinal tract, kidneys, or bladder. Emotional problems are a far more frequent cause of low blood pressure. To a laser degree, prolonged disappointments and frustration may result in a subnormal blood pressure.
